During one of the earlier visits, I was told to stay away from herbal medicines like pak zan, dong guai and other chinese herbs. That also includes one of my favourite dish, Bak Kut Teh, which I use to cook quite often as I always buy the herbal packs and cook with the slow cooker as I work the whole day in the office. Now... looks like I have to change my soup menus.
I was also told that raw food is a No as well.. which means, no more sushi, sashimi (which I love the most) and half boiled eggs (which I have just recently master the skill of perfecting it). Caffeine is a no as well, therefore, no more daily dose of coffee, no more Coke as well.
As the list of food joins the "NO" list, I have start to think of food that I should be eating that is good for my own body and doesn't affect my chances of success. Google has been giving me lots of answers as well, and one fine day, a relative told me, I shouldn't take "cold" food such as barley, watermelon, cendol and etc. There at that very moment, I felt what the heck?!! Now more food is joining the "NO" list. It seems that these "cold" food will weaken my uterus. I wasn't quite satisfied with the answer, so off I googled for it... and that seems to be quite true as according to TCM. Western medicine never believe in that. My husband was quite happy as he have been telling me to stay away from the "cold" food as well (note, my husband is my disciplinary guide, he restricts me of all the "NO" food which no matter how I beg him to bring me for one last time of sashimi, the answer is a big fat NO). So the conclusion, no more "cold" food as well, which means no more cendol, no more watermelon and cold water.
Since there is quite a lot of food in the "NO" list, what can I eat, and eat healthy? Actually, there are still quite a lot of proteins and vegetables I still can cook, including warm soups as well. So actually is not so bad after all, apart from the restrictions. But one big question which I have yet to get the answer from Google, is vegetable juice consider "cold"? Cos personally, I feel vegetable juice is yummy, like the one I just had this morning, carrot, celery and cucumber juice. But anyhow, I will reduce the intake until I find a definite answer.
So as my IVF journey begins, I too have learnt a lot on what you eat will have impact on your body. And with God's help, hopefully, I am doing things right.

MindBody Fertility Session by CT Ong (April 29)
As part of the Fertility treatment offered by Sunfert, there is a 4 session counselling or some sort of coaching as part of their IVF package.
So I decided to give this life coach a call. Fixed an appointment on April 29th after my Diphereline injection.
When our number were called, we walked into the Sunfert Wellness room and greeted by Mr. C.T Ong. As we sat down, he went through a form that I had filled earlier in regards to my mental and emotional state of mind, and asked me to draw a tree of my own idea. From the form, he noticed several things about my own personality and we addressed out our own fears, worries and issues that is in our mind.
As the session progress, he have given me a clearer picture of what to expect of this IVF. There is nothing we can control in this process. We have a plan, the end result to that we will be parents for the very first time. How soon or how many tries, it is not important. And at the mean time, we were asked "why do we want children??" and the answer for me to have someone to share our love and affection. For us to care and to complete our marriage, to have a home and not a house. We were asked, have we thought on how we want to bring up our child, how are we going to teach this child in terms of value and moral and in terms of disciplinary? (personally, I have discussed with my husband on this matter, no cane, however, I prefer the naughty corner punishment). As CT Ong mentioned, 9 months is going to zoom past super fast and before we know it, parenting skills are something we may never have seriously consider or study about, and this is the best time to think about that.
At the end of the 2.5 hours session, we walked out with a better and more optimistic mindset on this IVF. The conclusion, don't over pressure ourselves on this IVF journey and things would come around easier.
I guess things would be more optimistic with the help of this life coach. We all got to have someone to give us the little push, the little assurance and to have a little more HOPE.

2nd Buserelin shot begins....
It was a cooling Saturday morning and me and my husband decide to sleep in a bit longer since it rained in the early morning of Saturday.
As we woke up at about 8.30AM, my husband was eager to jab me with the Buserelin shots. And this will be his very first attempt. He remembered what all the nurse had thought him. Off he goes to the kitchen and get the medication ready.
Went to peep at him preparing the meds and he was so serious and concentrated, making sure no air bubbles in the meds.
He walked in to the room with a big smile and asked me to sit on the edge of the bed as he was holding the syringe with the needle ready. As we shift around the edge of the bed a couple of times trying to get the light, my heart beats goes racing again. And finally we have settled with a location at the edge of the bed which he can kneel down and give me the injection. We agreed to go by counting 1, 2, 3 and jab as I draw my deep breath at the meantime.
And there we go, counting 1, 2, 3 together and as I draw my deep breath in he goes with the jab on the flesh that I have pulled out at the abdomen area. To my surprise, I didn't feel a thing and he instructed me to release my flesh that I was holding and he push in the medication.
As the injection was done, I told myself, for the love a of children, I would do anything...
And... My IVF Journey begins
Well... firstly, to all new readers of this blog, Thank you for dropping in to view my not so impressive write ups. A small introduction of myself, I am 33 years old, married for about 4 years soon and have been trying hard to have a child of my own naturally. But still no outcome, hence this blog is created. I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As mentioned before, I have been trying for about 4 years for a child. Had been following up with one of the best gynecologist in town. About 2 years ago, I was told that I have a 4cm ovarian cyst at my right ovary. It is not giving me any pain or discomfort nor to the doctor's opinion that it will give me any pregnancy problems.
However, of late, our doctor's visit to my gynecologist, we have been told that the cyst has grown and I have a fibroid growing at the back of the uterine wall. That shows some concern and something had to be done. So as recommended, I was referred to a Fertility Specialist at Bangsar South, Sunfert under Dr. Wong Pak Seng. Therefore, I called up to made an appointment at schedule at mid of April. I must say, I was the last patient and I was there the whole day since 11.00am to get my husband's sperm test done. And manged to see Dr. Wong at about 3.30pm! However, the first check is rather conclusive. We first walked in to seek his opinion on whether or not to operate and remove the cyst on my right ovary and to cut off the fibroid as well, however, to Dr. Wong's opinion, he suggest something we never thought a Fertility doctor would suggest. We always thought all fertility doctors want everything clear from the uterus. However, Dr. Wong suggest that I would leave the fibroid alone as it is not encroaching into my uterine wall so much. As for the cyst on my right ovary, he suggested that a cyst aspiration be done instead of cutting it off as it will affect my egg reserve in my ovary.
As for my husband's sperm test result, it is not as promising either. Therefore, the conclusion is clear, IVF.
Dr. Wong draw out a "game plan" for us. He started me on some contraceptive pills for 14 days, and my "last period" comes as expected in the "game plan". I was given a Dipherelin jab on my buttock on the 12th day of my contraceptive pill, and Gosh! it hurts!! injection site was sore for the past 3 days.
Finally the day of my cyst aspiration came. Which was yesterday. Early morning, no water or food since midnight. And off I go leaving my house with my husband with a nervous heart.
Reach Sunfert, told the front counter I am here for a cyst aspiration, half an hour later, my name was called and I was ushered into the daycare area leaving my husband outside to wait. I was asked to change and wear a cap, walked to my "bed for the day" and was poked with a branula for sedative medication later in the operation theater (never expect that coming actually! and nervous again till my veins shrink!!). Later the O.T nurse ushered me into the OT and there it is, the "stage" is waiting for me. As I lie down on the bed with my both legs propped up, my heart beat was racing. When the O.T nurse hooked me up with my IV monitor and blood pressure sensors, she noticed my pressure was skyrocketted, 140! she told me to cool down and relax while waiting for the doc. About 20 mins pass and the doc finally arrives to do the procedure.
I was given the sedative medication and the rest was history. I only recall that the prop supporting my legs was moved to close up my both legs together and later was ask to move over to my "day bed" and push to the daycare and recovery area and it was a good sleep after that.
After I had a good sleep, woke up and slowly become "sober" I was taken to change and leave the daycare and to my husband whom is waiting patiently outside. I was given some milo (malt energy drink) and took some biscuit to "break-fast".
Later my name was called and in we go into the doctor's room. Dr. Wong told me that the cyst has shrink and all goes well and I will start my Buserelin daily injection starting from 20th May till 3rd June. And off we go out waiting to collect the cooler bag with the medications.
When our turn has come to meet the nurse, the cooler bag was waiting for us on the nurse's table. The nurse gave a demonstration to my husband on how the injection would be given to me on every morning. Small syringe with a small needle, I told myself, aah... is not that horrifying actually! Next she gave me the jab as part of a demonstration and walla! it wasn't that bad actually.
